Dear Trusted Servants,

During the last quarter of Panel 71’s rotation, it became necessary to replace our fragile calendar system.   The new calendar system is evolving and will continue to improve as we move forward.   This brief two-page explanation will orient you with the new calendar and how to request that events be posted.

There are three major changes from the previous calendaring system:

  1. Anyone may download any posting to their personal calendars or smartphones (ios and google calendar)

  2. A new posting request process has been put in place to better ensure the accuracy and timeliness of events

  3. Instead of having one calendar and navigating through every meeting, posting, and event, going forward, each County will have a calendar, the Area will have a calendar, and there will be a comprehensive list of “upcoming events.” In addition, one can request that an event (for example, a Share-a-Day) be posted on various calendars

Where are these new calendars?

Just as before, on the SENY Website, on the sidebar menu there is a section for Calendars; within that menu, you will see – Upcoming Events, a list of all SENY Area 49 Assembly and Committee meetings for 2023, the SENY calendar, and calendars for every county, Distritos Hispanos, and Young People in AA (YPAA).  For your convenience, click any of the following links to see those pages:

Downloading a posting into your calendar:

When you open up an event within any of the calendar pages, on the left hand side you will see

Google Calendar  ICS

These are each hyperlinks – clicking on them will allow you to directly download them into a google calendar (“Google Calendar”) or download them into events that can be added to most calendar programs, such as the Mac calendar (“ICS”

What is this whole “posting request process”

As has always been the case, any event that is posted on the SENY page has to be reviewed by the Agenda Chair.   The new calendar makes this request process easy!   Within the Calendar Sidebar menu (and eventually in various places on the SENY website) you will be able to click to a form that collects various required pieces of information and is automatically sent to the Agenda Chair for review.  Upon posting, the Agenda Chair will confirm that it has been posted.   At present, systems are in place for both English and Spanish posting; due to technical limitations, they are slightly different processes.   Again, for your convenience, here are those links:

English: Click here to request an event be posted on the SENY Calendar and/or County Calendar(s)

Spanish: Haga clic aquí para enviar su evento para que se publique en el Calendario SENY o en cualquiera de los calendarios de los condados.

As we move through this rotation, we will continue to streamline, simplify and upgrade our Calendar system.  We appreciate your patience and support.
