Archives
AA has long recognized the importance, to the future of the Fellowship, of an understanding and appreciation of our history. Locally, the Archives Committee seeks to help SENY collect, catalogue, preserve and make available to the membership its historical data and materials, this in cooperation and coordination with the Ad Hoc Archives Committee (an advisory and support group) and the Area Historian.
The Archives Committee also mounts displays of SENY AA materials at select local AA events such as the Area Convention. Local groups may request the SENY Archives display at their special events through the committee. It is not however the role of the SENY Archives Committee to create an archive for the greater Fellowship. That is the role of the Archives Department at AAWS/GSO (see below).
If you would like the archives committee to mount a display or show videos at your special event contact the Archives Committee Chair. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Projects
History Book
One project which is now complete is the 2010 revision of the SENY History Book, compiled by the Archives Committee from a variety of sources throughout the area. This updated Third Revision of the book is available for download at the bottom of this page, or in a paperback edition. For more information on obtaining a paperback copy, contact the Archives Committee at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Digital Archives
Another project is the SENY Digital Archives. While still a work in progress, the Archives Committee has developed an online archive of historic SENY materials. The collection offers access to back issues of The Link, our area newsletter, minutes from area committee and assembly meetings and select correspondence, all in PDF format, all searchable. Also available will be a collected history of the area’s counties and other historical highlights. (This part of the Digital Archive is still in development.) The Video/Audio section offers service related documentaries, the most current, "The Presence of AA at Ground Zero".

Resources
For Anyone Currently or Considering Doing Archival Work
Many members in service have found that using General Service Conference Approved AA Literature and General Service Office materials helped improve the commitment that they were working on. While assuring that the 12 Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous were not breached in carrying out their task. If your County currently has no Archivist and you are considering doing it please contact the Archives Committee Chair. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
