AREA 49  S.E.N.Y.

Welcome to South Eastern New York Area Committee and Assembly of Alcoholics Anonymous, also known as SENY or Area 49.

Most, although not all of the information on this website is intended for AA members, particularly those interested in service in Alcoholics Anonymous beyond the home group in Area 49. We also include some information about the AA Fellowship and program, help finding an AA meeting, and other information which may be of interest to others including professionals involved in the field of alcoholism.

SENY is one of 93 "Delegate Areas" in the General Service Conference of the United States and Canada which serves as the framework through which the "general services" of AA, those functions which as a practical matter local AA members and AA groups cannot enact, are carried out.

Considering SENY's role in these general services, we are reminded in AA's "Tradition Five" that, "Each group has but one primary purpose—to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers."
