The New York State Informational Workshop (NYSIW) is an annual event with participation of AA members from the four general service areas in NY State:

This event rotates throughout the four general service areas in New York and is generally held in the summer. In SENY the NYSIW chair is appointed by the area chairperson. He or she is tasked with forming a NYSIW planning committee comprising of secretary, treasurer/registrar, hospitality, program, publicity and registration.
NYSIW Chair – is involved with the site selection process; is the liaison to the facility where the event is being held; holds regular NYSIW planning committee meetings; works with the SENY treasurer and NYSIW treasurer/registrar in setting up a special bank account for this event; invites input to the planning process from the four AA areas and keeps them informed of activities leading up to the event; gives regular reports at SENY area assemblies and area committee meetings to encourage maximum area participation; writes articles pertaining to the event in the area’s newsletter The Link; facilitates SENY service committees to contact their counterparts from the other areas to set up their roundtables/workshop presentations, etc; and invites the SENY archives, literature and Grapevine/La Viña standing committee chairs to participate at the event.
Secretary – attends all NYSIW planning committee meetings; records and distributes minutes of all NYSIW planning committee meetings; assists the NYSIW chair and planning committee members as needed.
Treasurer/Registrar – attends all NYSIW planning committee meetings; sets up and maintains a registration database for the event; receives all registrations and monies; provides treasurer’s reports at planning committee meetings; provides the NYSIW chair and registration committee with a list of all pre-registered participants; is responsible for registration monies received on-site; works closely with the NYSIW chair and SENY treasurer.
Hospitality – attends all NYSIW planning committee meetings; seeks volunteers to assist with set up/clean up of light snacks and beverages provided during the event weekend; seeks voluntary contributions from AA groups to help off-set hospitality expenses.
Program/Publicity – attends NYSIW planning committee meetings produces program layout and flyers for the event making these available to the four areas and especially at SENY events, website and The Link; contacts Box 459 and the AA Grapevine to have event listed in the respective calendar of events.
Registration – seeks volunteers to help at the registration table during the event weekend; sets up registration packages for pre/onsite registrations including printing of name badges; attends NYSIW planning committee meetings.
